Small Scale Magic

Teepee "Happy Place"

My first favorite book was Indian in the Cupboard. I've lived dozens of lives made by my imagination, barelegged  on tall bluffs overlooking wide moonlit deserts. This is my happy place. ;)

*Dimensions and Details*

This pendant features an archival, elegant, and highly water resistant image set into a brass bezel and hung upon a 16 inch brass chain with a 4 inch adaptor. This means that your necklace is adjustable anywhere from between 16 to 20 inches.

(Practical application of a Small scale Magic's "Happy Place" necklace)

I use my necklace by furnishing the inside of the dwelling in cool clean blankets and pillows. I imagine how warm the air is outside, how cool tendrils of air are floating down from the sky because twilight is coming. I choose what kinds of sounds the coyotes are making. (Howling, but far off, down near the river tonight.) I let my stomach feel the full moon, rising, pulling on the desert. I imagine the smell of the bird I just plucked, roasting over my fire. When the jackrabbits crawl into their dens, I imagine my cell phone buzzes and its someone I love (everyone I love!) calling to tell my they just finished my first novel and they read it from beginning to end. No stops! ;)

Basically, I use it like a battery. I keep the feeling it contains a private secret, as strong as the little blips that'll inevitably pepper my day. I let it help calm me, like an anchor. I painted this series hoping it would serve as a tool, something to carry as a reminder that we aren't ever alone in life's misunderstandings. Life's circular, it cares for itself within its wacky perfect gentle brutal rhythm. We add what we can to it, and it isn't constantly fair, nor does it come with a users guide, but EQUALLY just as powerful, is our the ability to change, in any given moment of any given day, to allow ourselves the right to retain our preciously powerful inner peace. Most often it's just a broken habit and a spiritual self retraining away, anyway. ;)
